Our sweet Joyce passed away peacefully the morning of July 2, 2021 and joined her eternal sweetheart Virgil Lynn Mitchell. She leaves behind her daughter Joylin B. Mitchell-Reed, her son-in-law Wallace, and granddaughter Shaneen who was the light of her life.
Joyce was born on November 14, 1930 in the Ball residence of Coalville, Utah where Moore's Chevron now stands. Her parents were William (Kelly) Corlett-Ball and Annie Elda Blonquist Ball.
Joyce attended North Summit Elementary and High School, making many lasting memories and friendships which she carried throughout her life. For a short time she worked at Deans Coffee Shop. Then became a very familiar face at Boydens Drug where she worked for many years. On weekends as a young woman, she would lovingly care for her Grandmother, Mae Huffman Blonquist. She met Virgil Lynn Mitchell on a blind date, then married him on September 12, 1953. Baby daughter Joylin was born on January 12, 1960. Joyce was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in 1964. Joyce was an exceptionally accurate teller at four banks in the same building that include Walker, First Interstate, Wells Fargo and Zions. While working she was very active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Business Professional Women, Daughters Of The Utah Pioneers, and The Golden Gleaners. Joyce loved to read, crochet, knit and had passion for embroidery in her elder years; she enthusiastically collected salt-and-pepper shakers and worked on her family genealogy; She was immaculate with dates, places, times, stories and could tell you a story in every little detail. Joyce loved to reminisce with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William (Kelly) Corlett-Ball and Annie Elda (Huffman) Ball; her husband Virgil (Ping) Lynn Mitchell; her brother-in-law Ivan Leon Dalley; and sister Annie Patricia Ball-Dalley. She is survived by her daughter, granddaughter, and son in law.
Joyce was a sweet, amazing lady who was loved by all, had a great memory, and was a friend to everyone.
The funeral services will be held Wednesday July 7, 2021 with a viewing from 12:30 to 1:30pm followed by the funeral at 2pm.
Interment will be held in the Coalville Cemetery.
Joylin and her family want to thank everyone who has been a support system and has helped Joyce.
We would like to end with her favorite statement “We’ll Be Alright”.
