Joseph Dale Williams passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family in his home in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Wednesday November 1, 2017 at the age of 93. Joe was born on September 26, 1924 in Evanston, Wyoming to John Wesley Williams and Minerva (Peg) Carpenter Williams.
Joe spent his youth in Almy, and later Evanston where he met Elaine Condos the love of his life. Joe and Elaine married on Dec. 30, 1946, at the LDS bishop’s home in Coalville, Utah and recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. They called Evanston home until 1972, when they relocated to Cheyenne.
Joe retired from working for the Union Pacific Railroad, and post retirement he worked as a skilled lapidary, enjoying rock-hounding, making jewelry and knives. As a proud Wyoming Native, he was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, camping, watching wildlife, and the Wyoming Cowboys.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert John Williams, sister Shirley Ruth Jackson, daughter Jo Ann Ray. Survived by his loving wife Elaine, sister Bonnie Louise Tousley, son Dale Wesley Williams, daughter and caregiver Kathy Williams-Meyers, 10 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service for Joe will be held at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, WY on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 10am. A viewing will be held Friday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8pm as well as one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will follow services at the Evanston City Cemetery.
