John Hatch Morris, 88, gave up the ghost on Tuesday February 28, 2017 after a long stubborn and courageous fight with cancer, COPD, pneumonia and old age.
John was born to John Willard Morris and Reva Neville Morris on October 2, 1928 in Almy, Wyoming. He was the fifth of nine siblings. He also had a brother, Roswell Morris, from a previous marriage with John Morris and Carrie Turner.
John wore lots of shoes in his days from sheepherding to mechanic, Korean War veteran to a tavern owner. But he will be remembered as “Uncle John”, “Hatch” and dad.
He married Mary LaVon Treadway on March 9, 1953 and had three kids, Steve “Squeak”, Clint and Joni “Sis”.
After his wife’s passing, dad got sober and stayed that way until the end. Working here and there for a while, he retired and soon moved to town to be near his family. There his daughter “Sis” took up the mantle of caregiver and so much more.
John spent a lot of time at the Senior Center visiting, flirting and telling stories.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary; son Steven; brothers Henry Roswell Morris, Junior, Frank and George; sisters Joy Morris (Bill) Rees, Selena(Lawrence) Cook and Eileen Morris.
He is survived by his son, Clint Morris and daughter, Joni “Sis” Morris both of Evanston; brother, Lloyd Morris and sister, Eunice Morris both of California.
We all thank you for being a part of our lives. Rest you now, the brave saddle warrior.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday March 4, 2017 at Crandall Funeral Home with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Evanston Cemetery. The VFW is in charge of military honors.
Pallbearers will be John Rich, Clint Morris, Mike Morris, John Morris, Bill Gross and Lyle Izatt. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jeff Mathson.
