John Kennedy

August 12, 1928 — February 13, 2012

John Allen Kennedy, passed away on February 13, 2012 at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Evanston, Wy.  He was born on August 12, 1928 in Randolph, Utah, the son of John Edward and Netta Fontella Kennedy.
He married Helen Mae Harris on March 31, 1951 in Randolph, Utah.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 30, 1967 for time and all eternity.
He worked for numerous ranches in the Bear River Valley area.  He also worked for the city of Evanston for thirty eight years.  He enjoyed horses, trail drives, hunting, fishing, cooking, camping, and loved spending time with his family, friends, and children.  He was a member of the Sage Riders Mounted Sheriff’s Posse, and advisor for the bit and spur Jr. Riding Club.  In 1988 he was Grand Marshall for the Cowboy Days celebration in Evanston, WY.  He was a rider for the 1960 reenactment of the Pony Express, and was recognized as a friend of the Bear River project.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, holding the office of High Priest.  He has been a scout leader, and has served in many callings in the church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, and children, Craig (Melva) Kennedy of Woodruff, UT.; a daughter Paula Kennedy of Gilbert, Arizona; Shane (Vicky) Kennedy of Evanston, WY.;  He is also survived by a brother, Robert (Jeanne) Kennedy of California, and a sister, Lois (Dean) Slater, of Slaterville, UT.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Stephanie Smale, Jennifer Parkin, Cristy Stowe, Sherry Wallick, Amanda Kennedy, Heather Kennedy, Allen Kennedy, and Austin Kennedy; also eight great grandchildren, Cheyenne Lewis, Trenton Stowe, Caitlyn Stowe, Brianna Stowe, Stetson Pierce, Tiana Pierce, Calvin Pierce, and Alaya Love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edward and Netta Fontella Kennedy; brothers, Dale Kennedy, and Marvin Kennedy; sisters, Laverl  Gagner, and Judy Williams, and a brother in law, Kenneth Harris.
We would like to thank the staff at Tender  Heart assisted living center, Evanston Regional Hospital, Rocky  Mountain Care Center, and Best Home Health and Hospice for their kindness and loving care for our Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.
Visitation will be held at Crandall Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Elm Street L.D.S. Chapel in Evanston, Wy.
Interment will follow services at the Evanston Cemetery, Evanston, WY.
