John Howard Brinton was born July 15, 1932 in Lyman, Wyoming to Ruby Wall Brinton and John William Brinton. February 27, 2012, Howard passed away at his home, on the ranch that he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Ruth Kelley (John), Phyllis Wilson (Dick) and Bonnie Asay. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marian Bartlett Brinton, sister Jeanne McLain (Ed), son John David Brinton (Ladale), daughters; Barbara Bertoldo (Robert), Marla Fairbourn (Sterling), Gayle Hernandez (Jose), Dawna Major (Dale) and Karen Tremayne (Scott). He cherished his 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Howard graduated from Lyman High School, Lyman Wyoming in 1950. He participated in and enjoyed wrestling, football, FFA, and married his high school sweetheart, Marian, on June 8, 1951. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 24, 1952.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Howard served as a counselor in several Bishoprics, Stake High Councilman, Sunday School President, Ward Home Teacher, High Priest Group Leader, and as a Stake Missionary with his wife.
Our community benefitted as he served on the Uinta County Weed and Pest Board, Bridger Valley Joint Powers Board, Bridger Valley Senior Citizen Center Board, Fort Bridger Canal Water Board, ASCA Board, Lyman Grazing Association Development Committee, and the 24th of July Committee. He was also given and award for Uinta County Rancher of the Year.
Services will be held on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Lyman Wyoming Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located on 3815 North Hwy 414, Urie, Wyoming. Viewings will be held Sunday, March 4, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Stake Center, and Monday one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the Lyman Wyoming Cemetery.
