John Spencer Angwin, 68, passed away May 9, 2018 at his home in Evanston, surrounded by family.
John was born September 25, 1949, in Evanston, WY to Warren Angwin and Lillian (Bell) Angwin. John graduated from high school in Mountain View, WY. He worked various jobs including seismograph, FMC, Jim Bridger Power Plant and also helped his Dad with their cable company, Angwin Cable.
John worked for Solvay Chemicals and trained the mine rescue team for several years. He was very proud of his team and traveled extensively across the country competing for top honors. He had several top honors under his belt. He was inducted in the Mine Rescue Hall of Fame July 13, 2006. He retired from Solvay with 32 years of experience. On July 30, 2011, John married Doreen Cook Elardi at their home in Evanston.
John loved the outdoors and enjoyed golfing, camping, side by side riding, hunting and fishing. He loved to build things and was happiest when working on a project.
John is survived by his wife, Doreen, of Evanston; his mother, Lillian Angwin of Mountain View, WY; three sisters, Sharon (Stan) Walker of Lyman, WY, Linda (David) Black of Mountain View, WY and Judy (Steve) Coburn of Laramie. WY; a brother, Ernie Angwin and his companion Deniece Lipelt-Poeppel of Grand Junction, CO; children Georgine Miller, Veronica (Shawn) Ottley, John E. (Kara) Angwin, Clayton (Elizabeth) Angwin of Evanston, Kathryn Angwin of Boise, ID; stepsons Gino Elardi and his companion Missy Knudsen of Samak, UT, Mike (Brooke) Elardi of Evanston; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 step grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Monday May 14, 2018 at the Aspen Church, 40 Agape Way, Evanston, WY 82930.
John donated his body to the University of Utah for research.
