Jesse Lee Whiteman passed away on September 27, 2015 in his home in Green River, Wyoming following complications of Parkinson's disease.
Jesse was born September 2nd, 1931 in Ogden Utah to Arthur Jesse Whiteman and Zelia Lee Whiteman.
He graduated from Evanston High School in 1949. He then went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in
Geology at the University of Wyoming. Jesse enlisted in the army and proudly served as a sergeant in
the Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean Conflict. When he returned home he met and married
his beloved wife, Kay Louise Nida, on June 8, 1957. They had four children. He worked in many
positions in the oil field, and his career took him and his family all over Wyoming. He retired and settled
in Evanston, Wyoming. While in Evanston he was a member of and held several offices in the BPOE. He
was also a member of the VFW. He enjoyed following sports especially the Wyoming Cowboys and the
Denver Broncos. Jesse was an avid rodeo fan. He enjoyed camping with his family. One of his favorite
pass times was watching and listening to his children and grandchildren play sports.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother, Bud Lee, sister, Loretta Robertson, and
brothers-in-law Jim Nida and Bill Thompson.
He is survived by his wife Kay, son Donald (Sandee) Whiteman of Powell, WY, daughters Diane (Wesley) Butler of Rock Springs, WY, Susan (Mike) Knezovich of Meeker, CO, and Marie (Eric) Robertson of Houston, TX. He was proud of his twelve grandchildren Nicole (Todd) Summers, Amanda (Jay) Carter, Melissa Butler, Jason Butler, Paige (Brent) Cummings, Robert Knezovich, Bailey (Chad) Clark, Isaac (Kandace) Robertson, Miranda Robertson, Holly Knezovich, Abigail Robertson, Ty Whiteman, and ten great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Lucy Thompson of Laramie, WY, sister in law Marilyn Nida of Glen rock, WY and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held in Evanston, WY at Crandall Funeral Home on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 11:00 am, followed by a graveside service at the Evanston City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the VFW, Michael J. Fox Foundation for
Parkinson's Research, or charity of your choice.
