Jeffery Nathan (Nate) Lupher
July 4, 1960 – January 7, 2014
Nate Lupher passed away Tuesday January 7, 2014 at home on his family ranch in Mountain View, Wyoming.
He was born to James Wesley Lupher and Myrna Christine (Behunin) Lupher. Nate attended Mountain View High School where he later graduated with a high school diploma. Upon completion of high school, Nate attended a year of professional horse training taught by Roy Yates in Aspen, Colorado. He loved training horses, roping, breeding performance horses, as well as raising top of the line cattle. He spent most of his free time teaching young children how to rope and ride. Nate also enjoyed traveling with the greatest of friends to participate in many rodeos, including the World Series in Las Vegas, Nevada.
His passion for horses started at age 3, riding the Hamilton Ranch behind or in the saddle with his dad, sometimes taking a nap while riding. He started training horses at the age of 12 and on his 13th birthday, rode his first saddle bronc at the Fourth of July Rodeo. He earned his own money and sent for his own bronc saddle, unknown by his parents until it arrived in the mail.
Nate raised and showed the only State Champion Market Steer from Uinta County as well as winning a lot of Grand and Reserve Champion Market Steers and Breeding Heifers. Nate was asked to judge numerous livestock shows even though he had no college education.
He worked for Badgers Construction for several years after high school and as an iron worker. Then Nate went to work for Solvay Chemical for about 15 years as a mechanic, all the while ranching and shoeing horses.
He is survived by his mother Myrna, brothers Wade Scott Lupher (Angie) of Kinnear, WY, James Wesley Lupher Jr. (Becky) and John Clark Lupher (Tamara) of Mountain View, WY, daughter Jade Byers, son Jacob Roy Fanos (Lupher), and partner Raquel Minton, who he enjoyed spending the last seven years with traveling and working side by side. He is preceded in death by grandmother Allene Chase and grandparents Orson and Christina Behunin, father James Wesley Lupher, and sister Deborah Gail Branham.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday January 11, 2014, 1:00 PM at Mountain View High School. Time with family will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
