Jean Carol (Burnison) Woodward passed away on February 1, 2015 at her home in
Evanston, Wyoming after a long illness. Jean was born on February 3, 1933 in
Riverton, Wyoming. She was the third child of James Wales and Maude Rose (Sharp)
Burnison. Her parents divorced and Maude later married John Stork. Jean had happy
memories of growing up on the Stork farm where she loved to ride horses. She
recalled milking the most temperamental cow on the farm while her sister Shirley
had the easiest. She graduated from Riverton High School in 1951 then worked for
Western Union in the San Francisco area and in Jerome, Idaho. On December 26,
1952 Jean married George "Buddy" Woodward, Jr., also of Riverton. Bud and Jean
lived in Riverton until 1968 when they relocated to Casper, Wyoming. Three
children were born to them in Riverton, John (Margie) of Auburn, Wyoming, Calla
Dollbare (Jim) of Evanston, Wyoming and Bill (Brenda) of Strasburg, Colorado.
Jean joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1960 after reaching out
to the missionaries. She enjoyed serving in the church and performing genealogical
research through the years. Her family was sealed for time and eternity in the Salt
Lake Temple in 1972. Jean's sons and grandsons have all served full time missions
for the church.
The Woodwards retired in 1995 and relocated to Evanston, Wyoming. They
remodeled their home, enjoyed camping in the area, and continued researching
family history through their golden years. Jean was preceded in death by her
parents, her husband, George and her brother, Jerry. Jean is survived by her sister
Shirley Hatch, three children, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Jean
led a quiet life of service to her family who will miss her love and friendship.
The family acknowledges the faithful caregiving of Carrie with Best Home Health
and Hospice. Her guidance along with daughter Calla's dedication made it possible
for Mom to enjoy her remaining time in the home that she and Dad worked so hard
to remodel.
