James Jay Cook, Sr. passed away at his home in Evanston, WY on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. He was born August 18, 1937 in Albany, NY to William and Elizabeth Garrison Cook.
James joined the USAF right out of high school spending 20 years honorably serving his country. While in the military, he met and married Norma Jean LaPorte in 1961. They were married for 57 years.
James enjoyed bowling, going fishing , BBQ’s at the park, listening to music and talking to and making new friends on the internet. James loved to tell stories and jokes and making people laugh.
James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma Jean LaPorte Cook; his children, JJ Cook, Terrie Cazin, Sandra Cook and Matthew Cook. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; his brothers, Richard Cook and Sonny Cook and all his friends who he considered family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and two children.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Hamblin Park in Evanston.
