Ila May Stembridge passed away August 14, 2017 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on September 17, 1938 in Henefer UT to Jeston Bird Dawson and Sadie Marie Russell Danks Dawson.
On October 3, 1958 she married Wendell J Stembridge in Henefer, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple in 1959.
Ila graduated from North Summit High in Coalville. She was a cheerleader for four years there. She worked for Dr. Parker, and Dr. Kumagai as a nurse and was later a caregiver in Home Health in the Summit County area. She and her husband also ran a mink ranch. In 1971 Ila and Wendell opened the Oakley Polar King. She enjoyed visiting with the friends she made at the drive in. Ila loved being around people, she was very caring and thoughtful. Ila truly loved life. Most important in her life was her family and she loved to spend time working and playing with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband and companion, Wendell, of Peoa; Children: Glayde (Lesa) Stembridge, of Smithfield; LuAnn (Tyler) Page, of Kamas; Thayne (Audrey) Stembridge, of Peoa; and Stephanie (Tyler) Waters, of Kamas. Also her brothers: Earl (Shirley) Dawson, of Morgan; Kenneth Dawson, of Coalville; Marvin (Pat) Dawson, of Morgan; two brothers-in-law: Dean Smith, of Orem; Darrell Smith, of Vernal; and a sister-in-law Ruth Dawson, of Hooper; She is grandma to 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gwen Smith and Donna Smith; and her brothers, Fred and Harland.
Funeral service will be on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Peoa L.D.S. Ward Chapel. Viewing will be on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Peoa Church.
Interment will be at the Peoa Cemetery.
