On Thursday February 11, 2021 Howard D. Woody peacefully passed away. Howard D. Woody was born in the room behind the Union Telephone Company switchroom in Mountain View Wyoming on June 22, 1922 to John D. and Mary Woody.
Howard grew up helping his dad work the land and with the Company that would later define his life. He volunteered for the Army and served with distinction throughout World War II in which he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. After the war he worked for Timber Processing, Union Pacific, Bridger Valley Electric, Union Telephone Company and the ranch. He was actively involved with the Operation of Union Telephone Company throughout his life as well as working all manner of livestock on the ranch. He served on the Board of Directors for the United States Independent Telephone Association, President of Rocky Mountain Telephone Association and Chairman of the Board for Union Telephone Company. Howard was active with continuing to serve in the communities through the Lions Club, American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On October 17, 1942 he married the love of his life Esther P. Gladwill, together they had five children John G. (Roberta), James H. (Pamela) Gloria Dee, Lee J. (Linda) and Bonnie J. Shannon (Wayne) with 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 11 Great-great Grandchildren.
Howard was proceeded in death by his Parents John and Mary; his sisters Goldie, Lottie, Verla, and Bonnie; his wife Esther; Daughter G. Dee; Son Lee J.; Daughter in Laws Linda K. and Linda M.; grandson James D.; Granddaughter in Law Lisa; and a great granddaughter Ashlynn Spurlin.
A Viewing will be held at Crandall Funeral Home; 800 Uinta Street, Evanston Sunday February 14, 2021 from 2-4PM. Funeral Services will be held Monday February 15, 2021 at 1:30 PM at the Evanston Machine Shop 1500 Main Street, Evanston, Graveside service will be held immediately following the service and transport to the Fort Bridger Cemetery.
