Howard Marlow Mair, affectionately known as Butch, was born on March 15, 1959, in Heber City, Utah, and passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, in Salt Lake City, Utah surrounded by those he loved most. He was 65 years old.
Butch dedicated many years of his professional life to the Leavitt Lumber Company, where he worked in the mill. For the last fifteen years of his career, he worked for Wal-Mart in the sporting good department and truly enjoyed all the people he worked with.
In his leisure time, Butch had a multifaceted range of interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed watching movies, indulging in a good book, playing cards, games, darts and singing. His love for outdoor activities was evident through his hobbies of fishing and golfing, and he would often share laughter and joy while dancing, a testament to his vibrant personality.
Butch was a cherished brother, uncle, and great-uncle, leaving behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his sisters, Brenda Wilson and Colleen Hammond; nieces, Krishna Woodruff and Susan Woodruff; and nephew, Nick (Bree) Hammond. He also leaves behind his great-nieces and great-nephews, Annabelle, Greysen, Taylor, Ashlynn, Mackenzie, Lillian, Damian, Luna, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard M. Mair and Leah Jones Mair; his sister, Debra Mair; and his brother-in-law, Gilbert Hammond.
A viewing will be held at Crandall Funeral Home in Kamas, Utah, on September 13, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM, followed by a graveside service at Francis Cemetery, beginning at 1:00 PM.
