Hope Miriam Hamilton (85) of Evanston, Wyoming, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 23,2022. She fought a long hard battle of lung cancer for the last 5 years.
Hope was born on January 6, 1937, to Francis and Hulbert Weatherson in Kerman, California. She had 3 sisters, (Nadine, Fern, and Jeanette) 3 brothers (Leroy, Jerry, and James).
Hope grew up in Kerman, California. As a young girl she picked cotton and grapes to earn money to buy her school clothes.
Hope was very close to her sisters. Hope and her sister Jeanette were not much over a year apart in age and were like best friends. Her sister Fern lived just down the road from her, and they did many things together as well. They were a very big part of her life.
Hope married Floyd William Hamilton on October 5, 1956, in Kerman, California. They had 4 children together, Steven Ray, Brian Keith, Stacy Lynn (deceased), and Kristie Lea.
Hope enjoyed playing softball and bowling in her younger days. She bowled on bowling teams up until she no longer could. Hope, her sister Fern and Fern’s husband Jerry were on a team together in Fresno California for many years.
Hope worked at Montgomery Wards for a few years in Bakersfield, California, and sold Avon for several years and won many awards.
Hope loved baking and canning. She would make pecan, peach, apple, and cherry pies from their fruit trees they grew and would have pies stacked in the freezer ready to pull out when guests would come.
Church was very important to Hope. She loved her church family and was always active in church functions. She put all her hope and faith in the Lord. Up until the day she died she would call upon the Lord for help and strength.
Hope loved her family and all her grandkids. She was always excited to see them or hear about their lives. She loved to go watch their sports and activities when she was able to.
Hope loved to play games and was very competitive. Her favorites were bingo and dominoes. She would get so mad at times when playing dominoes, she would throw her dominoes or call the person sitting next to her that messed her play up a “dirty dog.”
She will be missed by many. Dominoes and Christmas Bingo will never be the same without her. But the memories and laughs will carry on.
Hope is survived by her children, Steve (Diana), Brian (Rhonda), Kristie (Dale) Duncan and was very proud of her 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Floyd William Hamilton, daughter Stacy Lynn, her parents, and sisters, Nadine, Fern, Jeanette, and brothers Leroy and James.
A special thank you to Ann LaRocco with Best Home Health and Hospice and Marci Vejraska for their patience and excellent loving care. They are angels on earth and truly were our helping hands.
