Hazel LaRene Curry peacefully passed away Monday morning October 28th, 2019, in the presence of her loved ones. Hazel was born on her family farm in Francis, Utah, to Leonard and Doris Atkinson in the heart of the majestic Uintah Mountains on July 14, 1935. She was the eldest of five children. As a young lady she worked at the local Chanas Café. Soon thereafter, she met the love of her life, Wade Curry, at the neighborhood drug store. Their eyes met in the mirror as Hazel was leaving. It was love at first sight and they were later married in El Paso, Texas, on June 27th, 1952, and that began their inseparable love and life together. While Wade served in the Army they lived in Richland, Washington where their son Raymond was born. They eventually settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, where their son Brent and daughter Rachelle were born. Together they enjoyed camping trips, sporting events, and entertaining their friends and loved ones. Hazel was a great country cook and took delight in providing meals for the family. She and Wade were committed parents and grandparents, constantly supporting the children’s activities. She was a terrific bowler and her and Wade participated in several bowling leagues over the years. Hazel adored every holiday and generously showered her children and grandchildren with gifts. These special family events brought great joy to everyone. Hazel was a strong-willed woman with a feisty personality and always spoke the truth. Hazel is preceded in death by her parents: Leonard and Doris Atkinson; husband: Wade Curry; son: Brent Curry; sister: Linda Muir; brother: DeMont Atkinson. Hazel was survived by her son: Raymond Curry (Debra); daughter: Rachelle Olsen (Robert); daughter-in-law: Janna Curry; siblings: LaVell Atkinson (Sheila); Myra Housel (Jaren); brother-in-law: Ted Muir; sister-in-law: JoLynn Atkinson; eight grandchildren: Chad (Bethany), Jessica (Michael), Erica,
Jennifer, Leisha (Shane), Shane, Nicole, Carra (Deon); eight great-grandchildren: Oaklie (Travis), Van, Myah, Kye, Nelli, Desaray, Chance and Greyson. Today we celebrate the life of our matriarch and tomorrow her memory will light our path forever.
