Harold Walker

December 19, 1942 — June 18, 2016

Harold "Spunky" L. Walker passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on June 18th 2016 after a battle with cancer.
He was born on December 19th 1942 in Rock Springs Wyoming to Norma and Harold Walker. They moved to Casper, WY in 1948 where Harold would grow up loving sports, animals and Roy Rogers. He graduated from NCHS in 1962, lettering in swimming. Along the way he made many lifelong friends and always said how the class of '62 was the best. After graduating high school he enlisted in the Air National Guard and served for eight years. In the fall of 1968 he would meet the love of his life, Gloria Jean Tucker, on a blind date. They later married on May 27th 1969 and were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 10th 1973. He remained an active member of the LDS church and served in numerous positions.
Harold and Jean would start a family of six children and reside in Casper until 1992 when he relocated for his job to League City TX for a short two years. When a position opened in Wyoming they jumped at the chance to come back to their home state and in 1994 moved to Evanston WY. He worked for BP Amoco for 29 years, retiring in 2003 at age 60. Harold didn’t stay retired long, and went to work the Uinta County School District. Harold enjoyed the people he worked with at the bus barn and loved cheering for the kids during their activities. Harold drove for the school district for 10 years.
After retiring he was able to pursue his true passion, classic cars. He and Jean spent many summers cruisin around in their 1969 Chevelle to numerous car shows. He was always more than excited to be surprised with an award for his car. He enjoyed meeting other car enthusiasts and spending the day talking about cars. He was an active member of the Evanston Car Cruise Club for 20 years, serving as the president for a few years and supporting their local charitable efforts.
He was an amateur astronomer recently rekindling his fire for the stars. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping, fishing and boating. He was an avid and lifelong Wyoming Cowboys fan. He loved listening to the golden oldies, often times making the whole family endure entire trips listening to them and nothing else. He loved spending time with all of his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Jean Walker, their six kids; Kimberly Walker, Mike (Amy) Walker, Rachel Johnson, Kelly (Josh) Rasnake, Kayla Walker and Casey Walker, 9 grandchildren; Brittny Brammer, Marissa Brammer, Kendall Walker, Ethan Walker, Evan Walker, Madisyn Johnson, Alana Johnson, Juliana Rasnake and Haylie Walker, 1 great grandchild Kade Cisneros and numerous nieces and nephews, his brother Bucky (Jennifer) Walker and sister Karen (Dallen) Spendlove. He is preceded in death by his parents Norma and Harold Walker and in-laws Minnie and A.T. Tucker.
Funeral services to be held on Wednesday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the LDS Church located at 632 Twin Ridge Ave. Evanston WY. Friends and family are meeting at the church one hour prior to service.
Interment will be held in Casper, WY at Highland Cemetery on Thursday June 23rd at 3:00 p.m. Followed by a celebration of life at the VFW on 1800 Bryan Stock Trail.
