Harold John “Pete” Petersen
October 22, 1934 – April 15, 2015
Harold passed away April 15, 2015 from complications from a stroke. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 22, 1934 to David and Sophie Petersen.
He grew up on a ranch in Lyman, Wyoming where he attended school and participated and enjoyed playing basketball. He then served in the U.S. Army from February 1955 to February 1957 in the Tank Battalion.
He married Shirley Ruth Andersen on August 18, 1957. They settled in Evanston, Wyoming where they raised their family together for 57 years.
His occupation was a mechanic in local dealerships and later at Ellingford Brothers where he also drove a cement truck and retiring there at the age of 77.
He loved the outdoors. Camping, hunting, and fishing were some of his favorite things to do. He loved driving his 1950 Farmall Super “A” tractor (that he rebuilt) in the local parades. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a caring man and that made him a great husband and father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Shirley; his daughter Dorothy Olsen; his 4 sons Ronald (Denise) Petersen, John Petersen, Larry (Tina) Petersen, and Roger (Shonda) Petersen; one stepson Wayne Andersen, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers David Jr. (Lois) Petersen, and James Owen (Mary Jean) Petersen.
He was preceded in death by his father David Petersen, his mother Sophie Petersen, brother Alvin Petersen and sister Ruth (Frank) Brower.
He was a great man and will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 2 pm at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston. A viewing will be held on Friday evening, April 17, 2015 from 6 -8 pm at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will follow at the Evanston City Cemetery.
