Harold H Hoffman, a pillar of love, kindness, and unwavering commitment to family and community, passed away on November 10, 2023, in Morgan, Utah at the age of 94.
Born on July 24, 1929, in Randolph, Utah to Albert Leroy and Effie Rose Hayward Hoffman, his life became a testament to dedication, compassion, and the joy of simple, genuine connections with others.
His journey began and remained entrenched in Rich County, where he found purpose and contentment. In 1948, he united in marriage with his beloved Nilda “Nellie” Mae Longhurst in Woodruff, Utah and they were later sealed in the Logan Temple. This partnership was the cornerstone of his life until Nilda’s death in 2020, a loss he felt deeply.
Harold’s heart was steadfast and full of warmth. His experience in the military during the Korean War shaped his humility, underlining his innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His love knew no bounds, extending to his two sons, their wives, children, and grandchildren, where his legacy continues to bloom.
A seasoned, successful rancher in Rich County, the great outdoors was a canvas for his life’s work. The land, the animals, and the rhythm of nature were elements he cherished, leaving a legacy woven into the very fabric of Rich County.
Harold was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in many different callings, and his faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ was the compass guiding his actions. Always extending a hand, he lived by the Savior’s teachings, offering aid and support to anyone in need- be it neighbor, friend, or family member. His approach to life was one making the most of every moment, even when faced with declining health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Glenn, Elaine, Albert Blaine, Roy, Larry Kay, and Sherlene Joy, and his wife Nilda. He is survived by his two sons, Neil (Chris) and Kent (Juli), along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will feel his loss keenly.
Harold Hoffman leaves behind a tapestry of memories, woven with threads of compassion, dedication, and an unyielding love for life and the people in it. He now joins his parents, siblings, and his dear wife, leaving a void in the lives of those who were touched by his warmth and grace.
A man of integrity, generosity, and endless patience and love, Harold’s legacy will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
