Grant William Dean
‘Gozzy’
Grant William Dean, ‘Gozzy’, beloved husband, father, son, grandpa, and great grandpa, passed away Friday, August 2nd, 2013 in Evanston WY, surrounded by family. He is the fourth child of John Arthur and Elvera Victoria Olend Dean, born on October 7th, 1927 in Woodruff Utah.
His mother passed away from complications of appendicitis when he was 5 months old. Uncle Burt and Aunt May Brown took him into their home for six years. His dad married Lena Feller in March of 1934, bringing the family back together. From this union 2 more children were born into the family.
Grant grew up working on ranches throughout the Bear River Valley, which ultimately took him to the love of his life, the oldest Buckley girl. He had taken a job for L.B. Johnson where a friend introduced him to a sweet young lady from Cokeville, Donnella Buckley. His favorite story to tell was about how he met her on the 23rd of September and they were married November 26, (1948), in the Logan Temple.
They are the proud parents of six children. Reid William (Kim), Jere Grant (Vicky), Eric Arthur (Kande), Preston Deon, James David (Sharlene), Dauna Cecelia (Richard) Bruce. They have sixteen grand-children and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Grant is an active member of the Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints. They served a two year temple mission in the Ogden Temple. He has served in many callings in the church, and especially enjoyed working with the youth, including MIA President, Ward Nursery leader, and Young Men leader. Young people will always hold a special place in his heart. He enjoyed serving on community boards and committees, and had received awards for from Rich County for Conservation.
He is survived by his wife, Donnella Joanne Buckley Dean, his children, Bill, Jere, Ric, Jim, Dauna, and a brother Arlo Dean. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Preston, two brothers, Lyndon and Carl Dean, two sisters, Mildred Jacobson, and Rose Groll.
The family would like to thank Rocky Mountain Care for the kindness and care they have given Dad over the last 13 months.
Services will be Friday, August 9th, at 11:00 am in the Woodruff LDS Church. Viewing and visitation will be Friday from 10:00 am to 10:45 am and Thursday, August 8th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Crandall Funeral Home (800 Uinta St. Evanston WY).
