Our dear, sweet mother, Gloria Ann Smith, left the loving embrace of her family on January 1, 2019 to join the loving circle of family members who had passed on before and who were anxiously awaiting for her to join them.
She was born on February 24, 1936 to Ozro George Crockett and Elvira Welker in Portland, Oregon. After graduation from high school, she married Ronald M. Smith. Eventually they moved to Marion, Utah and Ron taught at South Summit High School for several years. Together they raised a large family that grew to include eleven children.
After several years in Marion, places they lived included Council, Idaho; Sunsites Arizona, Cedar City, Utah; and the last five years of her life were spent in St. David, Arizona.
Gloria is a woman of faith, family and friends; and she treasured each of these deeply. She loved gardening, tending her flowers, sunsets, sewing and quilting, beaches, Mexican food, music and lots of laughter. Her optimistic attitude about life, regardless of its many trials, has inspired everyone.
Those preceding her in death include both her parents, son Spencer Allen Smith, grandchildren: David Spencer, Polly Smith, Dallin Smith, Hyrum Smith, Spencer Smith and daughter-in-law, Peggy Sue Smith.
Her surviving family includes her husband, Ronald M. Smith, children: Chuck (Jennifer) Smith, Ronda (Mike) Shearer, Crystal (Conrad) Spencer, Aaron Smith, Russell (LaDonna) Smith, Steven (Jana) Smith, Nathan (Gwen) Smith, Laura (Chris) Webb, Twila (Ken) Kulinowski, and Gary (LaToya) Smith; 38 Grandchildren and 30 Great Grandchildren; Sisters: Joyce (Keith) Lewis, Doreen Styler, many nieces and nephews, and too many dear friends to count.
Mom, we miss you, we love you, and can’t wait to see you again!
