Glenn Charles Dorcheus passed away on September 4, 2013 in Evanston, Wyoming. He was born on April 14, 1926 in Ashton, Idaho to Charles Henry and Lena Jane Olsen Dorcheus. Most of his childhood was spent in Harlem, Montana. He quit high school halfway through his senior year to join the army. He served as a foot soldier in the 10th mountain infantry division stationed in Italy during WWII. He married Dorothy Friede in 1949 and they had seven children: Duane, Gary, Sharon & Sharlotte (twins), Elaine, David, and Richard. They later divorced. He married Elizabeth David Johnson in 1965 and they were married for 35 years. Glenn helped raise Beth’s daughters, Shirley and Leona, and adopted and raised Shirley’s daughter Glenna. Beth preceded him in death, and he later married Elaine Giles Smith in 2003.
Glenn served his country proudly and was a member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving in many positions of responsibility. He was respected and loved by all those he served with.
He owned and operated Dorcheus Saws for many years, and also worked in the trona mines. He developed many skills and talents during his working life including: farming, ranching, welding, carpentry, bricklaying, logging, and diesel mechanic. In his later life he taught computer classes for seniors at Valley Learning Center and enjoyed doing wood work and jewelry.
He is survived by his wife Elaine; sons Duane, Gary, David, and Richard; daughters Sharon, Sharlotte, Elaine, and Glenna; stepchildren Mary, Anna, Evelyn, Clara, and Fred. He is also survived by his brothers Guy, Dale, Allen, and Jim, his sister Mary, and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth and her daughters Shirley and Leona.
