Gertrude Mae Kennedy passed away on June 2, 2013 at her daughter’s home in Lehi, Utah.
She was born on August 2, 1919 in Bismark, North Dakota to Lawrence Franklin and Myra (Taverner) Green.
On June 15, 1941 she married John Wayne Kennedy in KauKauna, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1992.
Gertrude taught elementary school in Outagamie county Wisconsin for many years and was a pioneer in Special Education which she greatly enjoyed.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served in the LDS Atlanta Georgia Temple.
She is survived by her sons: Philip W. Kennedy and his wife Mary Ella of Evanston, Wyoming; Richard L. “Dick” Kennedy of Delta, Co; William Andrew “Andy” Kennedy and his wife Beth of Cedaredge, Colorado.
Daughters: Karen Winterfeld of Lehi, Utah; Linda Martin of Sandy, Utah; and Mary Winterfeld and her husband Mark of Shiocton, Wisconsin. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Wayne Kennedy; parents Rev. L.F. and Myra Green; sisters: Lenora Welliver, Dorothy Fisher, Edith Weston and brothers: Paul and Frank Green, and two grandchildren Laura Winterfeld and Randon Kennedy.
Funeral service will be on Saturday June 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Evanston LDS Fifth Ward at Oak and Elm Street. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment will follow in the Evanston City Cemetery.
