The 4th of July must be one of the best days for a patriotic old farmer to hang up his hat and be called home. Gerald “Jerry” Lee Louder, 90, passed away at his home July 4, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 6, 1930, in Francis, Utah to James Louis and Ruby Janett (Mitchell) Louder. The beautiful Kamas Valley was home for his entire life.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart, BoDean Larsen at age 17, on May 29, 1948. Sealed in Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple on Nov 1, 1997. To this family were born 5 children: Tamra, Dixie, David (Joan), Tony (Judy), and Todd.
After BoDean passed away in 1969, Jerry married Doris Brusnahan and 5 more daughters were added to the family: JoAnn (Ralph), Kayla (Lynn), Patsy, JerriSue (Mick) and Tracie (Jeff).
Jerry was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator. Dad loved being in the mountains, especially in the timber. He had lots of fond memories of the Soapstone area. Farming and ranching have always been a part of his life. Dad was known by his peers as an expert heavy equipment operator. Sports were a big part of dad’s early life, especially basketball and football. He was on the very first South Summit Football team. He used his skill with the backhoe to be of service to many neighbors and family. As a home teacher he looked for opportunity to serve and gave Christ-like service. He seemed to always be hard at work, and always made you smile and laugh. He was honest and honorable. His word given could be depended upon. In his words, he had a good life.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife BoDean, parents Jim and Ruby, siblings: Boyd (SarahJo), Elgin (Patsy), Myrl (Vera), Bonnie (Alden). Daughters: Dixie and Kayla. Son-in-law Lynn. Granddaughter Leah.
Survived by his loving wife Doris, 8 of his children and spouses, brother Raymond (Dorothy), sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and son-in-law, Mike Day, 51 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren, 6 great, great grandchildren and a large extended family.
We wish to express our gratitude for the careful care given by Dr. Gregory Iverson and his staff. And especially to Brittany Stapleton for her skilled and loving care of Dad during the last few weeks. She is truly remarkable as she connects with patients in need.
