George William Schwitzer Jr., 85, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City. George was born December 26, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to George and Ida (Fessler) Schwitzer.
George joined the US Army at a young age and served his country honorably in WW ll. He married, Mary L Bruce, his companion for over 60 years in January, 1949.
George worked as a mechanic for the Wyoming Highway Department for several years. After retirement he enjoyed farming, selling fireworks, auto body and fender work, and even tried being a rodeo clown. He enjoyed drinking coffee and shooting the breeze with friends from the VFW, American Legion, Lions Club, and Sage Rider Posse. He bowled on League for 20 plus years. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and made it a point to never miss the annual elk hunt.
A kind, caring man, a friend to all, who never lost his great sense of humor, will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Chris (Cindy) Schwitzer, and Sarah (Gary) Dean; 4 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, all of Evanston, WY
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 11 am at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, WY, with a viewing 1 hour prior to services. Interment will follow at the Evanston City Cemetery.
