Felix Lucky Roitz, 89, passed away on December 23, 2012 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was born on August 14, 1923 in Kemmerer, Wyoming to John and Mary B. Roitz.
On March 17, 1950 he married Halaine Wall in Robertson, Wyoming.
Felix served his country in the Army during WWII and was again called to service during the Korean War. He was wounded in Korea and received the Purple Heart with cluster.
He worked for many ranchers in the valley during his youth. He also broke horses. He bartended for Zampedri’s business and eventually bought the Cowboy Bar in Mountain View. He loved to tell stories of jokes played and about the many people of Bridger Valley. When he owned the bar he could often be found playing “Solo” and other card games with many of his friends. He met and became long time friends with many people who came to the valley to hunt. He ran his business until he sold it in 1992. He owned a ranch in Robertson that he ran with his kids.
He is survived by two children, his son Zane F. (Tamy) Roitz and daughter Dusty L. Roitz. Also four grandchildren: Wyomia Roitz, Gusi Roitz, Shane (Beth) Roitz and Josh (Alayna) Roitz; and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also his sister Betty Fraughton; sisters-in-law, Margaret Roitz, Shirley Roitz, Connie Taylor, Sheryl (Gary) Peterson; and brother-in-law, Glen Hurdsman.
He is preceded in death by his wife Halaine in 2005; his parents; sister, Mary; brothers: John, Frank, Ted, and Will; and sisters-in-law: Jeanine and Delila; brothers-in-law: Don Taylor, and Keith Fraughton and sister-in-law, Laree Hurdsman.
A memorial service will be held at the Fort Bridger American Legion Hall on Saturday December 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. The American Legion Post 36 will officiate.
