Farrell M. Atkinson passed away peacefully on June 28th surrounded by family in his home. Farrell was born in Francis, Utah to Theron and Norma Atkinson on September 17th, 1942.
Farrell was born and raised in Francis, Utah and attended South Summit School District. Farrell began his journey of trucking at the age of 17 years old and from there found a love and passion for it and built a life around it. Eventually partnering with his father and two brothers to build a business of Atkinson Trucking located in Francis, Utah.
Farrell married the love of his life Mary Kae Jones on March 30th, 1963 and together built a beautiful (crazy) family. Farrell and Kae had 6 children together and with 6 children came many adventures. Spending time traveling for rodeo, house boating in Lake Powell, and many sporting events.
Farrell was a member of the High Uinta Wranglers. He enjoyed chariot racing with his partner Kendall Rockhill and his beloved horses Lady and Warby, his yearly packing trips into the High Uinta’s with buddies Alan and Lloyd, riding the slalom water ski off the banks with Deil, winning big jackpots on his favorite video poker machines, spending the weekends shining his truck, drinking coffee (with his special cream), back porch visits with all his close friends, and most of all, being with his big crazy family.
Farrell is survived by his loving wife Kae Atkinson, son Bret (Christy) Atkinson, daughters Michelle (Glenn) Murphey, Nicole Hatch, Tiffany (Loren) Chandler, Jade (Travis) Smith, brother Carmen Atkinson, 20 grandkids, and 21 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father Theron Atkinson, mother Norma Moon Atkinson, brother Duane Atkinson, and son James Tyson Atkinson.
The family would like to express a special thank you to IHC Hospice team for their love and support on this journey which includes his granddaughter Baillie as well as his countless friends that stopped in for morning coffee and a visit.
On Friday July 1st there will be a viewing from 6-8 pm. Saturday, July 2nd, a viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Funeral will begin at 11:00 am at Francis LDS church.
