Eunice Kearns

Eunice Mae Hardison Kearns, age 95, passed away at her home in Evanston, WY on Thursday, February 22, 2018.  She was born on August 12, 1922 at home in Evanston, WY to Milton and Grace (Ervin) Hardison.

Eunice attended Evanston High School, graduating in 1940.  She was active in the Job’s Daughters and was Honored Queen.  After graduation, she worked in Evanston for the Selective Service until she received a telegram asking her to come to Washington, D.C. to work for the War Department.  After working there for 4 years, she returned to Evanston.  Shortly thereafter Eunice and her lifelong friend, Shirley Spencer Pilch, moved to Salt Lake City and began working for the Office of Price Administration.  She was then transferred to San Francisco where she worked until her marriage to Robert C. Kearns in 1946. After raising her children, Eunice worked as a legal secretary for attorneys in Evanston until her retirement.

Eunice enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, watching game shows, old movies, and Days of our Lives. She was an avid bowler for many years.

Eunice is survived by her four children; Randy Kearns of Evanston, WY; Sue Kearns of Rock Springs, WY; Jim Kearns and wife Joann of Laramie, WY and Kathy Kearns of Green River, WY. She is also survived by one grandson Aaron (Melissa) Kearns of Laramie and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. (Lou) Kearns, parents Milt and Grace Hardison, grandson Nathan Kearns and a half-brother, Glenn Hamilton.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held at the Evanston City Cemetery on Monday, February 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon at the Gateway Grill at the Purple Sage Golf Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
