Emilie Ann Lefler Sorenson passed away on Sept 19, 2014 at Elk Meadows Assisted Living in Oakley, Utah.
She was born in Francis, Utah on September 15, 1925, to Sarah Elsie Atkinson and John Rossel Lefler. Married to Lynn Edward Sorenson on June 7, 1941, in Bountiful , Utah. They were married for 72 years. Lynn passed away in 2013.
Their first home in Oakley was a two room adobe which Emilie basically remodeled by tearing down walls and rebuilding with help from her father. She kept an impeccable home, and has a reputation in her family as being the best "behind the ear" scrubber, ironer of clothes, sheets and anything made of material, and especially a great cook. Her family delighted in her desserts and zucchini bread. We already miss that.
Lynn and Emilie owned and operated Shady Lane Dairy in Oakley. They enjoyed being snowbirds for over 29 years in Beaver Dam Arizona at the Funny Farm. They were members of Utah State University's Old Main Society.
Emilie served on the Oakley Town Board, and the Mountainland Tri-county Mental Health Board. She had been the Oakley correspondent for the Summit County Bee and had a clever way of making every day happenings seem like a major event.
Survivors include her son, Edward (Kathy); daughter, Kathy Lyne (Clark, deceased) Jones; grandchildren: Christy (Bret) Atkinson, Patty (Todd) Clark, Shad (Wendy) Sorenson, Kerry (Boyd) Bringhurst, K.C. (RonNell) Jones; 16 great-grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren .
One sister, Ramona Singleton, one brother, Gerald Lefler.
A memorial service will be held at the Oakley Town Hall on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Family will greet friends at 10:00.
Special thanks to all at Elk Meadows and Applegate Hospice.
