Ellen Hudson Wheeler, age 93, passed away on October 12, 2017, in Evanston of Natural causes.
Born April 9, 1924 in Evanston, the daughter of John P. and Loretta Reece Hudson. She married Edwin Wheeler September 7, 1946.
Ellen will be remembered for a life of hard work and service. Before WWII, Ellen was employed as a clerk-typist at the Union Pacific Reclamation Plant and was later a secretary for Evanston’s first radio station. Ellen was privileged to work in the grocery business with the love of her life for more than 40 years.
She was active in the Uinta County Extension Program, Cub Scouts, library board, and Evanston Study Club. As a member of the LDS church she served in all auxiliaries during her lifetime and will be remembered especially as a teacher.
Though busy with work, Ellen placed a great deal of value on fun and intellectual development. Ellen was a member of a bridge club for over 60 years, and her artistic talents with furniture refinishing and many types of needle work will always be remembered, much of which she shared with family and friends.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her parents, and one sister; Muriel Bloomfield. She is survived by her brother, Bruce and Kathy Hudson, her two sons and their wives, Dan and Mardi Wheeler of Evanston, Wyoming and Dale and Vickie Wheeler of Orange County, California, her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Ellen devoted her life to her family. “Her love was a lesson in living; her life was a lesson in love.”
As per the families wishes cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
