Elaine Kennedy Cox passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family and friends and the wonderful staff of Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, on November 12, 2011. She was born to Phoebe Smith Kennedy and James D. Kennedy on May 31, 1923 in Randolph Utah, the youngest of 4 children. She married Calvin Whitney on February 1, 1941. They were later divorced. She married Raymond Cox on December 1, 1950. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She and her husband served a mission for the LDS church in Kentucky. She was always active and served in many positions. One of her favorite callings was as a chorister. She loved music. She loved to lead the singing for the Christmas Eve progam in Woodruff. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially picnics. One of the last things she said to her children was “Families are everything.”
Elaine is survived by her children, Carol (Stuart) Hopkin, Nadine (Don) Rolfson, Rhonda (Dick) Norman, Michele McKinnon, Rosalie (Chris) Cox, Jim (Tricia) Cox, Also 32 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray; a son-in-law, Jason McKinnon; a granddaughter, Erin Rolfson; a grandson, Ben Weston; and a great grandson, Jimmy Hopkin.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the Woodruff LDS Ward Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston on Friday evening from 7 to 9 pm and at the church on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:45 prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Woodruff Cemetery under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home
