Edward Fenus, 95 died a peaceful natural death in Evanston, Wyoming on October 27, 2014.
Ed was born on October 20, 1919 in a little house on M Street in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Michael Sr and Mary (Mehal) Fenus. He was the youngest of nine children.
He attended elementary school in Rock Springs and moved to Mountain View in 1928 where he graduated from high school in 1938.
He married Beth (Rasmussen) Fenus on June 29, 1940. Shortly after they were married they moved to Rock Springs where he worked in the coal mines in Reliance and Sweetwater. They returned to Mountain View during WWII to take care of the ranch where he lived the remainder of his life. During his life working the ranch Ed also worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a laborer near Leroy, he installed and ran his own saw mill, sawing logs making lumber for the locals and props for the coal mines, he repaired chain saws for the locals, and operated heavy equipment cutting roads for the US Geological Survey. One of his most precious pieces of equipment was his backhoe.
Ed served on the draft board during the Vietnam War, was a member of the Lions Club and with the help of Ernest Dahlquist installed the Christmas tree on the top of Big Hill. The tree still shines every year during the holidays. He also served on the Senior Citizen Board and was a very social person that loved to visit. There was always a high ball or a cup of coffee and something to eat for anyone who stopped by. He was most certainly an icon in the community.
Ed is survived by 4 children: Donna Bindl, Gary (Bonnie) Fenus, Penny (Ronny Jr) Robbins, and Marybeth (Sid) Sibert all of Mountain View. 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Beth, parents: Michael Sr and Mary (Mehal) Fenus three sisters: Mary Fenus, Annie McIntosh, and Elizabeth Crofts; five brothers: Michael Jr, Joe, Steve, Andy and John Fenus; son: Robert (Bob) Fenus; four grandchildren: Cindy Elizabeth and Edward (Eddie) Bindl Jr., Sean Fenus, and Bobbi Jane (Fenus) Meyer.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 30, at 6: p.m. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., at St. Helen’s Catholic Church. There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. Friday October 31, followed by Mass at 11 a.m. at St Helen’s Catholic Church in Fort Bridger. Interment will be at the Fort Bridger Cemetery under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home.
