Dwain Duard Evans passed away on March 8th, 2025. He was born on December 7th, 1952, to Dewey and Fern Evans in Billings Montana. After his mother’s passing in 1962 his father remarried Wendy and together, they raised their blended family. Dwain graduated from Kingman high school in 1972 and then joined the Navy where he served in many different places over the course of nearly 20 years. He married Toni Mortensen in 1990 and together they had their daughter Gabrielle. He also gained many stepchildren with his marriage to Toni who he adored and treated as his own even after the marriage ended.
Dwain had a huge heart. The type of man who would give any person the shirt off his back even when he didn't have one to spare. He loved his children and grandchildren more than life, anywhere he could be with them was his favorite place to be. He loved car races and fried chicken. Adored by his children and grandchildren, his passing leaves a hole in our lives that no one can fill. He loved us, many of us, and more than can be numbered loved him back. He will be missed by everyone who knew him, and even by some who will never get the privilege of knowing him. Sturdy and still, his memory will live on in all of us.
He is survived by his children Gabrielle (Colby), Stephanie, Whitney (Emily), Jillian, and Nicholas of Evanston, Wyoming. His sisters Sandee Dobson of Casper Wyoming, Kay Miller of Greeley Colorado, and Terri Hill (David) of Wichita Kansas. His brothers Michael Gathercole (Martha) of Forney Texas and Corey Evans of Wichita Kansas as well as his brother-in-law Claude Raffin of Santa Barbara. He is also survived by his grandchildren Owen, Lennon, Jess, Tait, Rylann, Briggs, Carter, Andrew, Liam, Madylen, Thomas, Sarah, Emily, and David and 1 great-grandchild, Riley. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Dwain is preceded in death by his parents Fern and Dewey, his stepmother Wendy, his sister Valerie Evans, his brother Jon Gathercole, and his granddaughter Amya.
