Douglas Bott

June 22, 1951 — January 6, 2015

Douglas Clifford Bott passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 6, 2015 after years of poor health. He was born June 22, 1951 to Leroy Jay Bott, Jr. and Blanche T. Bott. Doug married his sweetheart Linda Harris on March 22, 1971 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Together they had 6 wonderful children.
Doug served in the National Guard for 6 years as a meteorologist. After graduating from the University of Utah he went on to become a master stone carver and owner of Nu-Art Memorial Co. The relationships he made with the many people he worked with were so important to him.  He always strived to do his best to serve them and loved to visit and get to know each one personally.
He loved to be outdoors, everything from horseback riding and hunting to snowmobiling and riding four wheelers. His heaven on earth was at the family cabin on the Weber River. He spent his life taking his children on many adventures teaching them about animals and plants along the way. He loved to take friends and family to Moab and Yellowstone to share in his love of the outdoors. He loved his many dogs and horses and passed on that special love of animals to his children. One of his favorite things to do was to sit on the porch at the cabin with his dog and watch the horses.
Doug loved to tell stories of his many adventures as well as others from Big Foot to Gospel Doctrine. He loved to study and had a knack for remembering everything he read. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many stake and ward callings. He especially enjoyed serving with the youth as a Sunday school teacher and scoutmaster.  Along with his wife he served a service mission at the Saint Joseph’s Villa. Doug loved people and cherished the friendships he had with those around him.
Family was the most important thing in the world to Doug. He wanted to spend as much time with them as he could.  Weekends at the cabin will be cherished forever. He is survived by his loving wife Linda, his children, Jonathan (Marian), Jared (Sarah), Marianne, April (Nathan), Jana (Colin), Grayson (Alissa) and 16 grandchildren.
