It is with a great sadness that we announce on April 16, 2017 the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, Dorothy May Stevison at the age of 93.
Dorothy, the second child of fifteen was born in Kemmerer Wyoming on December 1st 1923 to David and Dorothy Miller.
As a young girl, Dorothy moved with her family to Mountain home Idaho, and later settled in Glenns Ferry Idaho.
During WWII Dorothy worked as a waitress and would sing for the soldiers prior to them leaving for Europe. During this time, Dorothy met a soldier who became the love of her life, Coy Lawsen Stevison. Dorothy married Coy on January 10 1943. After the war, Coy and Dorothy moved to Butte Montana and for fifty years lived there raising their children prior to moving to Evanston Wyoming in 1997.
Dorothy had 5 children, (four sons and 1 daughter). Frank Wesley, Cora Darlene, David Lawsen, James Richard, and Robert Glenn Stevison.
Dorothy was a devout Christian and a member of the church of Christ. Other interest and hobbies included Thursday afternoon card games with family and friends. Listening to country western music and had a passion for driving and seeing the country. She was very well known to have a lead foot. Dorothy believed if a car couldn’t do 110 + going uphill then it wasn’t worth buying.
Dorothy had 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by 3 of her children (Cora Darlene Hulse of Evanston, WY) (David and (Liz) Stevison of Beaverton, OR) (Richard and (Donna) Stevison of Cody, WY) and 8 of her siblings.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, (David and Dorothy Miller) her husband Coy Lawsen Stevison, two sons Frank Wesley, and Robert Glenn Stevison, six siblings and a son-in-law Floyd Gary Hulse.
Funeral services will be held at Crandall Funeral Home on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10am with a viewing one hour prior.
Interment will be at Mountain View cemetery in Butte, MT on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10am.
