Donna Huffman Staley passed away February 10, 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 84, with her family by her side. Donna was born November 13, 1931 In Coalville Utah to George E. Huffman and Hannah G. Wilde Huffman.
On November 24, 1950 Donna married Darwin (Bill) LaVell Staley in Coalville. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, and remained sweethearts for the next 65 years. They moved to Evanston in 1953 and have called it home ever since.
As member of the LDS faith, she held many positions in the Relief Society, Primary, Sunday School, and Young Women’s programs. Along with a group of her dearest friends, Donna worked for many years running a catering service. She loved being a part of the celebrations that took place in her community.
Donna attended school in Coalville, and graduated from North Summit High School in 1950. She spent her early years working side by side with her father on the family dairy farm, where she developed a strong work ethic that followed her for her entire life. As a girl she loved running track, and playing softball and basketball. Her enthusiasm for sports never wained over the years. The baseball World Series and Jazz games were on her list of priorities. She was an avid bowler for most of her life, with countless trophies to show for it. She was a fixture at all her grandchildren’s sporting events, and was their greatest cheerleader. She loved the out of doors, and her fondest memories were created while camping with her friends and family. Her camp trailers were her favorite “homes”. After their retirement she and Bill lived their entire summers in the mountains of Wyoming, enjoying Mother Nature at her finest. She loved to travel, and was always on the go. Whether it was in a car, or on a cruise ship, she was always ready for the next adventure.
Donna is survived by her husband, Darwin L. (Bill); children, Shellie (David) St. Priest of Evanston, Steven (Joan E.) Staley of Afton, Dan (Susan) Staley of Evanston, and Suzanne (John) Small of Evanston. as well as 12 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Joye Willoughby of Morgan, Utah, and Dorothy (Raymond) Louder of Coalville, Utah.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law Owen, LaMont, and Kent Staley , and Earl Willoughby, sisters-in-law Superla and Darla Rae Staley; and great grandson Blayd William Templin.
Funeral service will be on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Evanston LDS Second and Fifth Ward Chapel on Oak & Elm Street. Viewing will be on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Crandall Funeral Home and at the church Monday from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Evanston City Cemetery
