Our beloved (treasured), Donna Jean MacDonald Page was welcomed home into the waiting arms of her Heavenly Father, family and friends on March 16, 2016. Grandma Jean was born August 25, 1933 to Mamie Ella Wigley (Kilgore, adp.) and Cleve Donnell MacDonald in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Her twin brother, Jack, paved the way into this brave new world just moments before Grandma Jean.
She was the fourth of seven children. When Grandma Jean was 8, her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. And like the pioneers of old, the family loaded all their belongings into their wagon (station wagon) and headed to “Zion”, as Grandma so often explained.
She married Gerald James Page on June 25, 1953 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They raised six wonderful children. There are no parents with greater dedication to their children. If you ask each of the six children, who is the favorite, you are certain to receive six different answers. This was their great work in mortality, serving family, at all times and in all places. A marvelous work and wonder.
Grandma Jean loves life, and life loves her. Despite her occasional missteps (she was from Pennsylvania, you know, she would confess), Grandma Jean possessed a most perfect heart. First and foremost, Jean is Grandma! Who can ever forget the joy shared at Disneyland, at Shakespeare, at Camping (fishing not so much), at Lagoon and all clog dance destinations, at Boston, at St Louis, at California (and all points in between). Christmas is her great delight – her presents and her words; and she is ours’ – her presence and her words.
Grandma Jean is a woman of great faith. Her testimony her prayers and her service full of love and light. She lived, at times, with all, and lifted burdens and raised spirits. Not to mention the amazing food! Our homes were always her home. And we, her posterity, “…Rise up now and call her blessed”. And we are certain that because of our Lord, Jesus Christ, we have not heard Grandma Jean’s last words, or felt her last embrace.
Grandma Jean is survived by three siblings; Bill MacDonald, Don MacDonald, Anita Bryan, and six children; Gerald James Page jr (Jenny), Michael Page (Ellen), Brent Page, Bonnie Page Steele (Bryan), Jennifer Page Powers Spielvolgel (Eric), Lauralee Page Larson (Brad); 32 Grandchildren, and 23 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Cleve, Jim, Jack, her husband, Gerald, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Page (Brent).
