Donna Shurtleff Cook passed away peacefully on June 29, 2019. She was 92.
Donna was born on May 8, 1927 in Carter, Wyoming. She was the daughter of Wallace V. and Mary Erickson Shurtleff.
She was born at Carter because her parents lived on a ranch at Thunderbolt and her Mom, Mary, had already lost four children buried at Thunderbolt and didn’t want to lose another child. They traveled by horse and wagon to Carter on the day Mary was in labor. Donna was born in good health at Mary’s sister’s (Chris Condos) home.
Donna spent most of her adult life in Evanston and the surrounding areas. She belonged to the LDS Church and enjoyed sewing, hunting, gardening, bowling and golfing. She was a member of the bowling team in Evanston and was also a member of the Purple Sage Golf Course and played in the Ladies Golf League. One of her fondest memories was when she made a hole in one, while playing at a golf course in California.
Donna spent 20 years working at Memorial Hospital in Evanston before retiring. She had a gracious and giving heart and was always there to look after and help those in need. Her loving personality and exceptional cooking skills brought family and friends together for many years. She will be forever missed.
Donna is survived by her children; James L. Cook, Genielle (John) Odom, Doreen Angwin, Ken (Kris) Cook, Becky (Tom) McClough, and her sister, Gloria Jensen. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Louise (Marty) Wrage, Devin Odom, Alex Odom, Gino (Missy Knudson) Elardi, Mikey (Brooke) Elardi, Chelsea (James) Rentschler, Austin Cook, Destiny McClough, and great grandchildren; Skyler Wrage, Davis Wrage, Caden Elardi and Milena Elardi.
She is preceded in death by husbands; James R. Cook, Ezekial R. Soza and David H. Cook. Also preceding in death were parents, Wallace and Mary Shurtleff, 7 sisters, 3 brothers and grandson, Travis Cook.
Per Donna’s request, she has been cremated.
