Donald Amase Wilcox, 73, of Evanston passed away on October 27, 2014 at the Rocky Mountain Care Center in Evanston.
He was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming on October 19, 1941. He was the only son of Amase and Evelyn Louise Wilcox.
In the summer of 1961, Donald married Betty Jean Aguirre, in Farson, Wyoming. They divorced in 1978. In the course of their marriage they were blessed with three children. On December 15, 1965, they brought into this world twin sons, Scott Lindsey Wilcox and Stacey Lowell Wilcox. On October 20, 1967, they were blessed with another son, Donald Robert Wilcox.
In May of 1965, Donald graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in mathematics education. He taught mathematics in Evanston from 1965 until his retirement in 1986. He retired due to health issues.
He suffered from recurring health problems for the last 15 years of his life. The Lord saw fit to relieve his suffering. He will be missed by his many friends and family members.
His favorite songs were “Meet Me in Montana” by Marie Osmond and Dan Seals, “Big City” by Merle Haggard and “I Believe In You” by Don Williams. He loved country music.
His favorite pastime was going geese hunting with the late Hubie Benn and the late Ryley Dawson at Crompton’s Reservoir, north of Evanston.
He enjoyed fishing and camping with family members.
He was truly an avid UW sports fan. He loved the Pokes.
He is survived by his ex-wife Betty Jean of Lexington, Kentucky, two sons Scott Lindsey (Kim) Wilcox of Evanston and Donald Robert Wilcox of Laramie. He is also survived by several cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Amase and Evelyn, one son Stacey Lowell Wilcox, a very dear friend, Peggy Henrickson Hammon, as well as several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston on Monday November 3rd at 3:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Pastor Paul Nebeker will officiate.
