Delores Hickey Maxfield was born on Wednesday October 31, 1928 to Cal Warren Hickey and Vilate Mae Langton Hickey. She was born 8 minutes before her identical twin sister Darlene. Delores grew up in Lonetree Wyoming. She loved riding horses and taking care of the dogey lambs when she was little. Delores attended the 2-room school house in Lonetree until the 7th grade. In 7th grade Delores and Darlene went to Mountain View to attend school. They lived in a cabin next to their older sister Joyce who was married. Bud and Joyce were right there if they needed anything but the girls took care of themselves during the week and Daddy & Mom would come get them on the weekend. In 1946 Delores left for college at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. She only attended for 1 quarter. Just at the end of the first quarter of school at Thanksgiving time her parents were in a car accident and the girls went home to help out. On their way home from Laramie they made a detour to Lyman where Delores met Lawrence Keith Maxfield.
On October 15, 1947 Delores married Lawrence in the Salt Lake Temple where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Mom always said dad really loved her to marry her on the opener of the deer hunt. Delores and Lawrence had 6 children. Kathie Crane (Joe), Kevin (Nancy), Ricky (Bobbi Jo), Tammie Peavler (Jerry), Stacey (Melissa), Gerald (Patty). They were blessed with 31 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren with 2 on the way and 3 great great grandchildren. Mom always said "family is everything". And she loved all of us so much.
Delores loved cooking, sewing and making quilts. All of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were blessed to have a quilt from Grandma Maxfield. Later in life she took up knitting and she made the best dishcloths for Christmas each year.
Delores was very involved in 4-H as a leader and as well as helped each year with the county fair. She loved helping out in the community and was involved with the Xadena Club. She had many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In 1994 she had the opportunity to serve as a missionary with the Family History Mission in Salt Lake for 14 months. She enjoyed her mission and helping those on the other side. Delores loved her family and was always there for them. She will be greatly missed. Love you Mom
