Delbert Eugene Barker passed away March 19, 2013, peacefully of natural causes at the age of 83. He was born November 2, 1929, to Ernest Thomas. Barker and Mary Ann Lym Barker in Hilliard, Wyoming. Delbert attended elementary school in Hilliard and high school in Evanston where he graduated in 1948. He joined the United States Army and served in in the Korean War. There he learned the skill of operating heavy equipment that he would continue to use throughout his life.
Delbert married Nelda Hirschi on February 18, 1956. Together they raised six children. He was an active member of the LDS church where he held many church callings including Sunday School President, Executive Secretary, Stake Missionary and member of the High Priest Quorum. He enjoyed getting to know and love the people he served with. Delbert loved to ranch, spend time with his children, grandchildren, friends and family. He was often found sitting in the bleachers supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities and sports. His eyes would light up as he would talk about his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He spent countless hours with his family making many treasured memories that will enrich and last for generations to come.
Delbert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nelda, his four daughters, Teresa (David) Bodine; Brenda (Adam) Pendleton; Norma (Shad) Welling; and Janiel (Mark) Beauxis, and one son Kent (Wendy) Barker. He is survived by 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters, Margaret Sim and Rita (Keith) Evans. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Rae Barker, his parents, his sisters, Naomi Harris and Mildred Smith and one brother, Neldon Barker.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 11:00 at the LDS Elm Street Chapel. A viewing for family and friends will be one hour prior to services at the Elm Street building and also on Friday evening March 22, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Crandall Funeral Home.
