Dee Martin

Dee passed away on March 2nd 2017 at home with his wife Ruth Ann (Rusty) and his grandson JD by his side. He had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer 8 months ago.
Dee was born in Coalville, Utah to Richard and Lucille Martin. He was the oldest of six children. He grew up on the family ranch 2 miles from the Utah border on Highway 150. Dee loved breaking colts, hunting, fishing and pack trips in the mountains. He grew up working for several local ranchers in between traveling the rodeo circuit both locally and in other states. He made three trips to the National Finals at Madison Square Garden before retiring in 1982 at the end of his season.
He joined the army in 1967 and served in Vietnam and he came home in 1969.He worked in the oil field for 25 years as a driller and a derrick hand. In his later years he worked for Pierce fencing, helping his cousins Dan Martin and Ruth and Alan Reese during calving season. He passed on his love of horses to his daughter Shawna and his grandson JD. He also passed on his love of rodeoing to his grandson JD.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann, three daughters, Denise, Glennie and Shawna and his stepson John Davis.  He was the proud grandpa of five granddaughters, three grandsons, two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. He is also survived by four brothers, Randy, Garth, Jeff, Clark and one sister Kathy cox.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lucille Martin, grandparents and aunts, uncles and cousins.
We lost a tough cowboy husband dad brother and friend. He asked to be cremated and taken to the mountains to ride the wind. There will be a lunch preceded by military honors at the VFW in Evanston at 11 a.m. On March 18th.  He requested everyone come have a drink on him and share memories and stories.
