Darrell (Dee) Glen Hatch, born July 26, 1930, at Brush Creek, near Aspen, Colorado, died peacefully on July 21, 2013, in Evanston Wyoming. His father died January 1937, leaving a widow and two daughters, Lois Helen and Jean Isabelle and one son, Darrell Glen. The family continued to live at Brush Creek where Dee attended elementary school. The family then moved to Glenwood Springs. Dee graduated from Glenwood Springs High School in May of 1948. Dee attended college for one year in Fort Collins. Dee went back to Glenwood to work for area farmers on Divide Creek, near Silt.
On October 21, 1951, he married Anita Alice Cerise; they were later sealed in 1961 in the Manti Temple.
On January 3, 1952, Dee joined the service taking his basic training in Indian Town Gap Base in Pennsylvania. From May 1952 through July 1953, he served in Korea. Dee earned the rank of Specialist First Class. After the Service, Dee continued to work for area farmers on Divide Creek. In October of
1956, Dee's family purchased a small farm near Slit, Colorado. Then in 1961 they sold the farm and moved to Glenwood Springs.
From 1961 through 1992, Dee lived in the Glenwood Springs area. After 45 year of marriage, Dee and Anita were divorced. Dee then moved to Marble, Colorado, to live in the family cabin. In June 1996, Dee married Jessie Boan. They lived in Rifle, Colorado, until moving to Grand Junction in 2002. In 2009
Dee moved to Evanston, Wyoming, until his passing in 2013.
Dee was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several leadership positions. Dee enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved spending time in the mountains in and around
Glenwood, Aspen, and Marble. Dee also enjoyed riding horses in the summer and skiing in the winter. He served on the national ski patrol for several years at Sunlight Ski resort near Glenwood.
Dee has three sons Cleve (Sunny) Hatch, Roosevelt, Utah, Brent (Rhonda), Evanston, Wyoming, Wade (Debra) Hatch, Greeley, Colorado, and one daughter Gail (Kevin) Dutton, Grand Junction, Colorado. Dee has 12 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.
He is survived by one sister (Jean) Glen Norton of Vernon, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Wade, and granddaughter Adrianne.
Funeral Services will be held at Callahan Edfast funeral home in Grand Junction, Colorado, on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 10 a.m. with a grave service later the same day in Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
