Curtis Woodley

April 28, 1955 — March 10, 2017

Curtis Michael (Mike) Woodley, of Evanston, left this earth surrounded by family on Friday, March 10, in a Salt Lake City hospital.

Mike was born on April 28, 1955, in Iowa. He was raised by his stepdad, Dean (whom he always called “Dad”), and by his mother, Virginia Kinney. He grew up in Iowa with his eight siblings.

He came to Evanston in the 1980s during the oil boom for work, and he worked in the oil field, in construction and as a truck driver for many years.

He married and divorced twice. He had three children who were the light of his eyes: Eric, Heather and Michael. However, his son, Michael, died young in a car accident in his senior year in high school, and Mike never fully recovered from the tragedy. He also suffered from a brain tumor and from significant secondary illness for many years before his death.
In his free time, he enjoyed working with old cars and fishing.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Dean Kinney; his sister Barbara Jenkins; his brother Craig Stephen Woodley; and his son Michael Ted Woodley.

Mike is survived by his mother, Virginia Kinney; his brother Chris Kinney; his sisters Cindy (Joe) Bowen, Cheri Bowman, Cathy (Cody) Deakman, Dorothy Funk and Janay (Jon) Baumgartner; his son, Eric Woodley; his daughter, Heather (Mitch) Stubenvoll; and by his granddaughter, Aleia Stubenvoll.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, at Crandall’s Funeral Home, with services conducted by pastors Jonathan Lange and Dan Mulholland. Interment will be in the Evanston cemetery.
