Clifford Colin Huggins, 71, passed away at his home in Bear River, Wyoming on March 15, 2017.
He was born in Brigham City, Utah on November 25, 1945, the son of David Clifford and Ruth Johnston Huggins. He grew up on the family fruit farm in Brigham City and he graduated from Box Elder High School in 1964. In 1965, while working in Salt Lake City, he met Margaret Johnson and they were married November 27, 1965.
He served three years in the United States Army including a year of combat in Vietnam and finished his tour as a Drill Sergeant in Fort Ord, California. He loved to be in the great outdoors hunting, fishing and every other crazy thing he could think of. He even herded sheep on the desert the year they lived on the ranch. He owned and operated several companies including American Western Steel in Ogden, Utah and Metals Technology Corp in Almy, Wyoming. In 1985, he was awarded the “Region VIII Subcontractor of the Year by Small Business Administration” and placed second in the national competition. Over his long career as a business owner, his employees numbered in the hundreds. He was a true entrepreneur.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret; his two children, David (Emily) Huggins and Leslie (Bryon) Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Dillon, Aidan, Gabriel, Marlee, Lucas, Brett and Ethan; three sisters, Betty Claybaugh, Rochelle Lewis and Debra Baird.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Brett Colin Huggins and sister, Sandra Nelson.
Upon his request, a graveside service will be held in Randolph Cemetery at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 18, 2017 with military honors provided by the Rich County Honor Guard.
