Claude Walker

July 10, 1923 — April 9, 2016

Claude, age 92, of Lyman, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday April 9, 2016. He was born July 10, 1923 in Lyman to Levi Orson and Amelia Jane Grow Walker. He married Bernice Rasmussen June 24, 1944 in Evanston, Wyoming. Claude was raised on the ranch near Lyman where he was the thirteenth child of sixteen brothers and sisters, one half-brother, on half-sister, and three stepbrothers. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He attended school in Lyman. The young couple started their life in a small trailer in Lyman and then shortly after taking a job in LaBarge, Wyoming shearing sheep, they moved into a sheepcamp where Bernice was the camp cook. Later their adventures took them to Oklahoma working for a seismographic company and then onto California shearing sheep once again. Finally settling to raise a family, first on a ranch near Lyman, and then on a ranch near Robertson, Claude worked hard to provide for his family. Claude loved his brothers and sisters and spending time with them, chasing wild horses, working, and just playing “out in the hills”. Claude could always be found with a dog or a horse by his side. He loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them having a picnic or just visiting. Claude is survived by his wife Bernice of 72 loving years that he adored and cherished, 6 children he loved dearly, Cheryl (John) Eyre, Lyman, Wyoming, Rudy (Clara) Walker, Fort Bridger, Wyoming, Kim (Jerrilynn) Walker, Mountain View, Wyoming, Lynne (Shane) Beckstead, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Rick Walker, Fort Bridger, Wyoming, and Lori (Doyle) Fredrickson, Lyman, Wyoming.; 16 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren; sister, Mathel Anderson, Payson, Utah, brother Clinton (Merlin) Walker, Lyman, Wyoming, and one half-sister, Lorna Maxwell, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 infant child, 8 brothers, 5 sisters, and 1 stepbrother.
