Chester B. Davis, age 79, passed away at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Evanston, Wyoming, on February 27, 2012.
He was born on September 8, 1932 in Carter, Wyoming, the son of Cleal A. and Vera A. (Harvey) Davis. He married Corrie Byrne Davis of March 14, 1952, in Evanston, Wy. He worked for several years in the construction business as a heavy equipment operator. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.
He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing, and spending time in the great outdoors with his family. In 1961 he served as the Cowboy Days Chairman. He was a member of the Evanston Jaycees, and the Evanston Lions Club. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American legion. Chester enjoyed playing the guitar.
He is survived by his children, Mike (Janice) Davis, Craig Davis, Ron (Donna) Davis, Todd (Jerrie) Davis, and Brett (Tammy) Davis; seventeen grandchildren, and twenty eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Jean (John) Schnauber, of Rock Springs, WY.; a brother in law, Robert Halferty, of Newton, Iowa, and a sister in law, Ida Bullock, of Helena, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carrie, and sisters, Lois McConnel, Melba Halferty, and a grandson, Michael Davis.
Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the American legion Hall in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home of Evanston, WY.
