Carol May Davis

September 10, 1934 — March 24, 2025

Mountain View

Carol May Robbins Davis, 90, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, after spending the day with loved ones. She was born on September 10, 1934, at the Carpenter family homestead in Robertson, Wyoming, to James W. and Jennie Carpenter Robbins.

On September 8, 1956, Carol married her high school sweetheart, Russell Allen Davis, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mountain View, Wyoming.

Carol was raised in a railroad family, spending her childhood in Bitter Creek and Carter, Wyoming. She graduated from Mountain View High School in 1952.

As an adult, her life took her to various places across Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado; including Laramie, Uinta Mountains, Kemmerer, Snowy Range, Hayes Center, Nebraska and Center, Colorado. They eventually made their way back to Mountain View. Although she hated the cold and winters, she had no desire to leave her beloved and cussed Wyoming; possibly because of loving Wyoming, but probably because of family.

Throughout her life, Carol wore many hats, through each one she expressed her love and dedication for others. Her most cherished roles were those of wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. Carol adored babies, and her deep affection for her family was a central part of her life. She worked as a switchboard operator in the 1950s and early 60s, and later as an operator with Union Telephone for 27 years, in addition to her work as an operator, she was a librarian, an art teacher, a daycare operator, a store clerk, and a rancher.

Carol was an avid sports fan, always attending games and cheering for her children and grandchildren, following numerous teams and sports on TV. She also enjoyed countless hours of cross-stitching, and trips to Wendover where she loved the excitement of the slot machines. A talented artist, Carol drew cards for holidays and birthdays, she never missed a loved ones special day.

Carol lovingly touched all who knew her: life long friends or brief acquaintances. She cared for others more than for herself. “Kindest” and “sweetest” are words many have used to describe her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell; her parents, James and Jennie Robbins; and her siblings, James and Joe Boan, Lester Robbins, and Arlea Pierce.

Carol is survived by her children: Tisa (Dan) Cheney, Quint (Kathy) Davis, and Toby Davis, along with her ten grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Mountain View Senior Center or Mountain View Library, in honor of Carol's lifelong love of reading and her deep gratitude for the memories created at the Senior Center.
