Carl L. O’Gwin
Carl Louis O’Gwin passed away at his home January 15, 2016. He was born August 23, 1936 in Cupertino, California to William Carl and Irene Elizabeth (Wagner) O’Gwin.
On March 4, 1961 he married Marilyn Kennedy in Orem, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in May 1962.
Carl attended and graduated from San Jose State University in 1960. He was educated and worked as a Mechanical Engineer in the Aerospace Industry. When he retired, he was Project Manager of the Hubble Space Telescope operations group. He was also a master woodworker and craftsman who enjoyed creating and working with his hands.
Following his conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served faithfully in several callings. He and Marilyn enjoyed their time working in the Salt Lake Temple for nearly eight years. Most of all he loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, of Oakley; and six of his children: Sean (Melissa) O’Gwin of Orem; Carolyn (Jeffrey) Paine of Franklin, TN; Jennifer (Michael) Rieger, of Madison, WI; Cathleen (Mark) Malcarne of Deep River, CT; Christopher (Stacy) O’Gwin, of Elizabethtown, KY; and Andrew (Sarah) O’Gwin, of Spanish Fork, as well as, 24 grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one son, Bryan, and his parents.
A viewing will be held in the Kamas LDS Stake Center on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home, Kamas. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North and 800 East, Orem, Utah.
