Brian James Platts was born November 5, 1964, he passed away on September 16, 2020. He was laid to rest at sunset on September 21, 2020 in Lyman Wyoming. Brian was injured doing what he loved when his horse fell while team roping on Aug 21, 2014. Since the accident he has been a prisoner in his own body rendered totally helpless. He has freed himself from his agony and moved on to ride again.
Brian was born in Evanston Wyoming and grew up in Lyman Wyoming where he graduated from Lyman High School, he went on to Riverton Jr College and then University of Arizona in Tucson. He lived in Phoenix, AZ, St. George, UT, Fruitland ID, he returned back to Lyman in 2012. He married Mitzi Bertram in 1994, they later divorced.
Brian trained race horses for many years at Turf Paradise, Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, Bay Meadows and Wyoming Downs. He later went on to be a Farrier, at the time of his death he was employed with Pacific Power in Kemmerer Wyoming.
Brian was halfback for the Lyman Eagles State Champion football team in 1982. He was 2nd place in Wyoming state wrestling and lettered in Lyman Eagle basketball.
He is survived by his Parents Lamond and Delores Platts of Lyman, His daughters Reanna Bertram (grandchild next spring) and Hannah Platts of Fruitland Idaho, Roxie Sherwin (Bill), Vicki Platts of St. George Utah, Joey Platts (Wendy) of Scottsdale Arizona, Brad Platts of Lyman Wyoming, Robert Platts (Kerry) of San Antonio Texas, 12 nieces and nephews. Chris Aimone of Mt. View Wyoming who held a special place in his heart, supported him and was there to hold his hand at the end.
