Brian Jeff Andersen, beloved father, husband, brother, and friend, passed away in the early morning of May 23, 2024, after a year and 3-month battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service to all those around him.
Born in 1961, he grew up on a dairy farm in Peoa, UT, where he was able to cultivate his love of fixing things, and where he learned the value of hard work. He loved playing sports, especially being able to play on the State Championship football teams at South Summit High, during his last years in high school. He served a mission in Tokyo, Japan, where he taught the gospel and learned to love the people and culture of Japan. He married his wife, Sayuri, in 1985 in the Salt Lake Temple and started a family. He worked hard in his education, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree at Brigham Young University and a Master’s Degree at the University of Utah. He worked hard to support his family and was always there to support his kids in any endeavor that they had. His example of faithfulness in the gospel and in our Savior, Jesus Christ, was one to be admired. He served in all of his church callings with dedication and devotion.
Brian’s favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed canyoneering, traveling, and had the ability to fix anything in need of repair. He enjoyed people’s company and had an incredible gift of being able to connect with people and in finding interesting links that made the world seem like a smaller place.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sayuri; his children Josh (Mindy), Naomi (Josh), and Megan (Ken); and his nine grandchildren: Chiaki, Koya, Yuzu, Hiro, Eiji, Takeshi, Misa, Rei, and Kiki. He is also survived by his siblings Marilyn (Jim), Ruth (Todd), Kevin (D), and Cheryl (Joe). He was greeted on the other side of the veil by his loving parents, Ray and Helen Andersen. Brian will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
